WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) - Families got a little extra help on Friday as they prepare for a new school year.

It is all thanks to a Waterbury Police Officer Andrea Saunders.

She started a non-profit called Brass City Cares which collects school supplies donations for families who cannot afford them."

Officer Saunders said she hoped to help 100 families. She ended up passing that total four times over, helping 400 families instead.

Thanks for your hard work, Officer Saunders!
