The Brass City Cares, Inc. is a 501c3 community-based organization that will provide a safe environment targeting our youth, young adults as well as adults across the four zones of the Inner City Brownfield's Corridor. We will provide various educational, sports and fitness programs and a learning center with qualified staff that employs the use of state of the art technology to meet the varying needs of a technology-based global economy.
The Executive Director, Edmund K. Saunders, is a member of the University of Connecticut 1999 National Collegiate Athletic Association Championship team. He is also a product of the Waterbury, Connecticut Boys and Girls Club an experience that changed his destiny forever. He has played basketball internationally in various countries for eight years, retiring in 2009. Edmund has been working for the State of Connecticut as a Correction Officer for five years, and is an Elder at the Temple of Praise Church. He has a natural born passion to care and help others.
The Vice President, Andrea Saunders, is a 13- year veteran of the Waterbury Police Department who was promoted to Detective in December of 2018. She was the first female Officer to receive the Officer of the Year Award in 2017 within the Waterbury Police Department. Her desire to become a law enforcement officer came from a desire to give back, haven been a product of the foster care system.
